A waterproofing warranty is valuable only when you understand what it covers. Two contractors may advertise different warranty periods, but the duration alone does not tell you whether the same leak area, workmanship, materials and follow-up service are included.
Start with the written quotation
Ask for the treatment area and leak condition to be clearly stated. The quotation should identify what work will be performed, which surfaces are included, the warranty duration offered for that scope and any conditions the customer must follow.
Seven questions to ask
- Which exact bathroom area or treatment zone is covered?
- Does the warranty cover workmanship, materials or both?
- What evidence is needed if seepage returns?
- Are pipe leaks, structural movement or new damage excluded?
- Does unauthorised renovation affect coverage?
- What aftercare must be followed?
- Who should be contacted and how quickly will the issue be assessed?
Common limitations to understand
Waterproofing treatment normally cannot cover unrelated plumbing failures, movement outside the treated area, later renovation damage or misuse. Coverage varies by contractor and site, so do not rely only on a headline such as “three-year” or “five-year warranty.” Read the written terms.
Why diagnosis comes before warranty
If a pressurised pipe is broken, waterproofing is not the correct repair. The source should be identified and plumbing failure ruled out first. A warranty tied to an inaccurate diagnosis may not solve the homeowner’s problem.
VH Waterproofing coverage
Eligible VH Waterproofing treatments may include warranty coverage of up to 5 years, subject to the selected scope, actual site condition and written quotation. This is an important difference from many offers commonly limited to shorter periods, but suitability and exact terms must still be confirmed for each bathroom.
Our no-hacking approach is considered only after the leak source is assessed. It is intended for suitable waterproofing seepage without removing the existing tiles. Read more about the no-hacking waterproofing process.

Frequently asked questions
Does a five-year warranty mean every leak is covered?
No. The written scope and exclusions determine coverage. A new pipe failure or damage outside the treated area may be unrelated.
Should I choose the longest warranty?
Warranty duration matters, but diagnosis, treatment suitability, written coverage and the contractor’s follow-up process matter as well.
How does the inspection fee work?
The on-site inspection costs RM50. It is fully rebated from the quotation when you engage our service. If you do not proceed, RM50 remains the inspection fee.
